We'll be really pleased to see you!   New members are always welcome.
Our minimum age is 16 but we don't stick rigidly to that and younger people can join us as long as they are really keen and their parents agree.   In fact there have been under 16s in all of our recent shows.

Our annual Gilbert & Sullivan show is in the Autumn.    Rehearsals for it start in May. The whole company rehearses weekly on Wednesday evenings and then twice weekly on Wednesdays and Fridays from about September.   Principals rehearse twice weekly throughout.   Rehearsals start at 7.30 pm and finish about 9.45 - 10 pm.

As well as singers, we need helpers in all theatre areas and they are made just as welcome.   They generally get involved nearer the date of the show though that depends on the area they are helping with.

dotActing members singing and performing in the Show

If you want to be an acting member, come along as soon as you can to rehearsals once they start - the Events page of this website will give you the exact date and venue.   If you decide to do the show, you will need to bring a score.   This year's show is The Sorcerer and you will need the Cramer 2003 revised edition.   Contact us if you need more information.   Our How to Find Us page shows you where we are.   See the links below.

Auditions for principal parts take place about six weeks after rehearsals have started. Date and venue and other details will be on the Events page.  Auditions are open to anybody, but we do urge people to get to rehearsals first if they can, so they get an idea of what's involved.

dotNon-acting members

If you are not performing in the Show but wish to participate in the Society, you can join as a non-acting member.   There are many backstage and front of house jobs that need to be done.   Let us know if you have a special area of interest, or we will find you something.

dotSubscriptions

Subscriptions are decided at our AGM in March.   For 2017-2018, they are 35 for acting members and 20 for non-acting members. Part-time students and those on certain state benefits pay half and people still in full-time education are free.
